Poem – Little owl

A little owl perched out of sight

Ready for her inaugural flight

The wind blows gently over the nest

Doubt raised over the test

The moon peeks from behind the cloud

Urging the owl to join the crowd

Little owl huddles down

The little owl is afraid of the ground

So far below

an unknown foe

The fireflies whisper

Come and join us

Little owl shakes her head no

Too afraid, she will not go

Suddenly a noise from the dark

With a whoosh another owl parks

In front of little owl, with giant eyes

Come take your flight, you might be surprised

She takes a deep breath

And she jumps from the nest

Wings spread

Upheld head

Feathers catch wind

Skyward they send

Little owl begins to soar

The little owl is afraid no more
